Privacy & legal
Plek is a small, independent project. This page explains who runs it, how far you can rely on the information, and what happens with your data (very little).
Who runs Plek
Plek (goplek.be) is a personal, non-commercial project by Elliot Borryn, based in Brussels.
About the information on Plek
The house rules, opening hours and facts come from public sources, regulars and our own visits. Rules marked community-reported have not been confirmed by the café. Cafés change their rules and hours, so when in doubt, ask the staff.
A ✓ Confirmed by owner badge means the café itself confirmed its rules on Plek. Plek is not affiliated with the cafés listed; their names and photos belong to them.

Your privacy, in short
No accounts, no cookies, no ads and no trackers. Plek does not collect or store personal data about you.
What happens when you use Plek
Visit statistics. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics. It uses no cookies and stores no IP addresses; visitors are counted anonymously with an identifier that changes every day. We only see totals, such as pages viewed, country and device type.
Your location. When you tap “Near me”, your browser asks for your location. It is used only inside your browser to sort the cafés by distance, and is never sent to Plek or stored.
Street search. If you search for a street instead, what you type is sent to Photon (by komoot, Germany) to find it.
The map. Map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which see your IP address, as any website you load does.
Saved in your browser. Your choice of light or dark theme and of language is remembered in your own browser. It is never sent anywhere.
Hosting. The website is hosted by Vercel and the café data by Supabase. Like every web host, they process technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages, under their own privacy policies.
Leaving Plek. Directions open Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze or Citymapper; from then on, their privacy policies apply.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. Since Plek keeps no personal data, there is usually nothing to share, but you can always ask. You can also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
